SENATOR PAUL FEENEY ANNOUNCES THE SUPPORT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, CORRECTION OFFICERS AND FIRE FIGHTERS IN CAMPAIGN FOR RE-ELECTION
FOXBOROUGH - Today the Paul Feeney for Senate campaign announced the endorsement of public safety professionals throughout Massachusetts. Elected last October in a special election, Feeney is currently running for re-election for a full term and has earned the endorsement of organizations representing thousands of police officers, correction officers and firefighters.
In a letter of endorsement, Martin Conway, President of the New England Police Benevolent Association, wrote “Our members, working 24 hours a day 7 days a week protecting all of us, have seen a dramatic change in attitude from both the Public and the Political spectrum.” Conway continued, “It is your continued support of Public Safety personnel, and all who work in Public Service that is most important to our members and their families…After hearing from our MA Legislative Committee about your positions on a wide array of issues, the Executive Committee makes this endorsement without reservation.”
Also joining the campaign in support of Feeney is the Massachusetts Coalition of Police (MASS C.O.P.), an organization that represents over 4,000 law enforcement officers in over 150 communities throughout Massachusetts. First Vice President, John E. Nelson writes, “We look forward to your continued support to the Massachusetts Men and Women in Blue and the communities in which they serve”.
The Massachusetts Correction Officers Federated Union has recently announced the organization’s unanimous endorsement of Senator Paul Feeney. The organization represents over 4,000 correction officers in Massachusetts Department of Correction and county facilities.
Senator Paul Feeney states, “I am honored to have the enthusiastic support of thousands of law enforcement professionals throughout the Commonwealth and will always stand with the Women and Men that keep our communities safe. Police and correction officers have difficult, stressful and dangerous jobs and they deserve the respect and attention of public officials at all levels. Cooperation between lawmakers and those that enforce the law is imperative in society, and I will never waver in my support of our law enforcement and correction officers.”
The statewide organization representing Fire Fighters in Massachusetts has also announced their support of Senator Feeney. Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts (PFFM) President Rich MacKinnon Jr. states, “The Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts proudly supports Senator Paul Feeney in his campaign for re-election. Paul is a passionate public servant who understands the challenges of our profession and stands boldly in his advocacy for Fire Fighters and the communities we serve. He has visited firehouses in every community in the district to listen, to learn and to advocate. Paul’s commitment to public safety and our communities is unmatched. We need more people like Senator Feeney in office these days.”
“I was proud to make my maiden speech in the Senate in support of my amendment to provide equipment for firefighters with the aim of reducing escalating rates of cancer among first-responders. Since taking office less than a year ago, I have visited firehouses throughout our district and have met with fire fighters on a regular basis”, states Feeney. “From new challenges on the fireground, to the dangers they face with a growing opioid and fentanyl crisis, I am keenly aware of the need for training, equipment and support services for these Men and Women and will continue to be their voice on Beacon Hill.”
Senator Paul Feeney is in his first term as State Senator from the Bristol & Norfolk district. The district is made up of the towns of Medfield, Walpole, Foxborough, Mansfield, Norton, Seekonk and Rehoboth, as well as parts of Sharon and the city of Attleboro.
